David Willburn‘s art practice combines a history of drawing and craft (fibers) with a love of domestic history and ritual. Taking Things Apart re-presents objects from his own home in a series of highly abstracted mixed media works on fabric. These hybrid media works–involving craft, painting, and drawing–are evidence of Willburn’s interest in employing craft media as a way of examining everyday things while reconsidering social, gender, and cultural convention.
